My name’s Emma, I’m 29. Live in Melbourne Vic. I never really considered anything about fashion when I was younger. I was awkward and shy and didn’t like my body so wore boy’s clothes. In fact at 15 my brother and I shared a wardrobe. Since then I’ve come to like and even love the body I’ve got.
I started modelling in 2006 when a supplier liked how I looked in the companies clothing range. It was one of the occasional times I had accompanied my Mum to help her buy clothes for her plus size fashion shop. By the following week I was doing my first photo shoot. I was so nervous I threw up the half a piece of dry toast I had managed to force myself to eat. It was awesome fun and I made a good friend who I still talk to.
From there I’ve done a few other things but have really been trying to focus on it a lot in the last year of so. I’d really like to be the kind of model who makes a real difference.
For inspiration I look at people like Teer Wade, Rikki Lee, Christine Hendrick, Tess Munster, Tara Lynn and Fluvia Lacerda. I used to really admire Crystal Renn but now she looks like every one else.
I’m pretty all over the shop with style to be honest. What I wear depends on how I feel and what I’m doing. I love bold clothing from places like Domino Dollhouse (which I unfortunately can’t wear because the clothes are too large but I adore the style). I love the range at City Chic. They cater for everything from work, to casual, underwear and evening. I also love IGIGI which is an American brand but their dresses are AMAZING! Threadz is another amazing brand that I shop regularly including their spin off labels Contrast and Clarity.
I love wearing black and then using colour accessories or shoes to change the look. I like versatile clothing that can be dresses up or dressed down, flattering to my bumpy bits but still shows off my curves and my little waist. I’m trying really hard to put more colour into what I wear. Bought some gorgeous little summer dresses this year as well as lots of maxi dresses and shorts with fun little t-shirts. I also bought my first piece of white clothing in about 10 years.
I love being active and busy, so I have lots of different clothes in my wardrobe. I exercise 4-5 times a week, play basketball and try to spend at least one week night out with a friend. On weekends I like to spend my Saturdays being busy and social so that on Sunday I can do things for me like painting, drawing, reading, catching up on TV shows, cleaning and spending some quality time with my boyfriend.
